The Aeronautics in America program is bringing together the best university students, university professors, engineers, scientists and educators to introduce students to the world of aerospace science, technology, engineering and mathematics by bringing them face-to-face with NASA Aerospace professionals and creative educators.

The AIA program consists of a 10-week period in which students learn about America’s Aerospace future being created by NASA scientists and engineers today. Then, using quality graphics software and NASA mentors’ provided content, students provide their vision of that future in words and art. Employing Internet based video conferencing they:

  • Work with University Mentors to examine the role aeronautics has played in the major events and trends of the last century such as Air Transportation, Commerce, Tourism, the World Wars, and science.
  • Work with NASA personnel to study the impacts of these trends and form a vision of the future.
  • Finally, working with Industry and NASA Mentors they will share their vision for the 21st Century with their classmates, community and the nation in the form of an essay and accompanying Poster. NASA will select one poster and essay from those produced by our student teams to be showcased.
