Video Conferencing System Help Page:

Hardware Recommendations:

We recommend each location have the following hardware components. (3 components)

These components should be able to be found at your local university campus bookstore or major electronics retailer. The best prices are found on the internet but may not be the easiest to order through school purchase orders or budgets numbers.

Web cam with built-in Microphone:
- Needed to capture and send video and audio from each user. Built in microphone is necessary for capturing audio from more than one participant in a room.

Recommended Hardware:

PC:
Logitech QuickCam Messenger (~$30 - 50)
Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 (~$60 - 100)

Mac:
Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 (~$60 - 100)
Apple iSight (~$130 - 150)

Speakers:
- Needed to project audio feed to more than one person in a room.

Microphone/Headphone Combo:
-Needed to minimize audio feedback and background noise for single participant use.

Hardware Configurations:

For individual user (one user at a terminal):

- WebCam (Camera only)
- Microphone/headset combo with microphone set to line-in and headset to line-out.

For Group Users (more than one participant at a terminal):

- WebCam with built in microphone
- Speakers connected to line-out.

Configuring Hardware and Flash Player for the VCS:

1) Install the web cam, speakers, microphone/headset according to manufacture instructions.

2) Right Click on the VCS interface (Macs: Ctrl Key + Click) and make sure you have the latest Macromedia Flash Player installed. | Flash Player 7 |

3) Select "Settings" to set Privacy, A/V hardware, and audio record levels for the flash player.

4) Make sure setting are as below:
